György Aczél was the most important and also one of the most contradictory personalities in Hungarian cultural politics for 32 years, between 1957 and 1989. The film makes an attempt to clarify the still unfinished past through a look at the portrait of György Aczél, born Henrik Appel, as drawn by Ágnes Heller, János Herskó, Miklós Jancsó, György Konrád, Péter Popper, as well as family members and former friends.
