Herminafield – Apparitions

The time is the fifties, the place is the area surrounding the City Park: Hermina Road and Hermina Fields The film revolves around an event which took place in 1956. Having received the news that the Russian troops are on their way, the inhabitants of the Invalids’ Home armed themselves. They “marched” along Hermina Road, with flags unfurled, dragging their rifles and machine guns. Later they dug trenches in the courtyard of the building where they worked and fortified the windows with sandbags. The Russian tanks reached the Park during the night. The artillery wiped out the courtyard and the “revolutionaries.” The windows of the building gaped like open mouths. This was the third war, which the linden-trees and the villas of Hermina Road survived. The story recounts events before catastrophes, events after catastrophes and catastrophic events.
